PARENTAL NOTICE:  If your child wants to play with swords or thinks we are doing 'theatrical' fencing this is NOT a suitable class.  This class teaches the basics of an Olympic style athletic sport.  We use real weapons in this class.  We require students have physical strength, physical coordination and especially mental focus.  For the SAFETY of both the volunteer coaches and the students, we expect student to be able to pay attention and follow the instructions of the coaches.  Our classes are "all age" classes with students typically aged from 10 to 60 years old, taught by volunteer coaches.  A student, of any age, who cannot carefully follow instructions or maintain focus should not consider this fencing class.

Please keep in mind that due to the size of our facility, space is limited, and early pre-registration is the only way to guarantee a place in the class.

Pre-registration for our Spring Beginners' Class has hit capacity. You can join our waiting list, and/or pre-register for our Summer class (tentative start date 6/22).

This class is only open to NIFC Club Members and typically runs for 3 weeks, on Thursdays, (6:30pm to 8:30pm).  The class is taught by club coach Bob Skurka.  Very different from the Beginning Saber Class, this is a repetitive drills course that hones skills on only a few key techniques to help beginners understand and ultiilze basic offensive and defensive moves with some level of skill while more fully learning the rules of Saber fencing.
