Friday December 30 at 7AM, at Sugar Land Memorial Park, I will begin my
last run of 2016, the Snowdrop Ultra 55 Hour Run with 150 other runners. It may take me up to 30 hours to complete 100
miles. Some may consider that I am doing
the 100 mile fun run as there will be runners going for all 55 hours, some
running 150, 200, or maybe 250 miles. What is not funny is pediatric cancer. An estimated 572 children will die of cancer during these 55 hours. These are innocent children that could have
grown to do great things like find a cure for cancer , be a doctor, teacher or be a great world leader.
As a kidney cancer survivor, I am
doing this run to help raise funds for the Snowdrop Foundation which provides
scholarships for college bound pediatric cancer patients and childhood cancer
survivors while raising awareness and funding for continued research to cure
childhood cancer. Houston 93Q award winning morning radio host Kevin Kline and
his wife Trish are the foundation founders. I recently spent half a day running with Kevin. How could I not join in this great
event? If you are in the area, come out
and cheer us on, as we run on a .74 mile loop course. If you come Friday night after dark or
Saturday morning, come keep me company for a mile or two as a pacer. If you can't be here, pray for the children with
cancer or best yet, make a tax deductible donation to Snowdrop Foundation. Thanks for considering.
