I run this race for my past and present students that have fought or fight this battle. I run in honor of their journey. This year I will be running in honor of Bairon, a survivor, who struggled to balance illness and academics just a few years ago. In addition, two of my former students and Luis Alejandro who was only a few weeks old when he was diagnosed.
