The Altoona Running Club provides a welcome and positive atmosphere to runners of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. We strive to promote the benefits of cooperative and competitive running by hosting groups runs and formal races. We aim to grow through shared experience, and will leave no runner behind.
The Altoona Running Club was started in September of 2018 as a response to local runners looking for other people to run with and feel safe. This was right after the tragedy surrounding the death of Iowa runner Mollie Tibbetts while she was out for a solo run. Our community of runners has created a private Facebook group that is used to coordinate runs with partners or group runs.
We also encourage all forms of running activities. We have members in the group that are casual runners, 5k-10k runners, half and full marathoners, trail runners and utlra marathoners.
