Like many families, we had never heard of CMV until our son, Brooks, was diagnosed with it during his 20-week ultrasound. Since that fateful day we have learned what an ugly virus CMV can be, and yet it is still such an unknown term to so many. One of our favorite organizations, Maddie's Mission, is hosting a 5K/10K Run/Walk to raise funds and awareness for CMV. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend the event this year, but we are committed to do our part to raise funds in Brooks' honor. Please consider making a donation to this wonderful organization in support of Brooks and all those sweet children affected by this ugly virus. Thank you!
We Team Brooks!
Practicing precautionary measures to protect the health of the unborn can be compared with wearing seatbelts in cars. Seatbelts were developed to protect people from serious injury in a crash. They can only make a difference if people know about them and use them. There will still be some crashes, but people who are belted in have done what they can to protect themselves. So, by learning about CMV and sharing the information with others, all will have the opportunity to do what they can to protect their future children from the potentially devastating effects of this virus.
