Please consider joining us for our second annual fun run/walk as TEAM OFELIA! Your love and support for my mom, Ofelia, has been so generous over the last several months, and your prayers have helped give her strength! As you know, she received a stem cell transplant on February 25, 2016, and her donor was found through MD Anderson and the Be The Match Foundation. Please consider joining us a for a fun and leisurely walk on September 10th, or please consider making a donation to the Be The Match Foundation on behalf of Ofelia Herrera so that other blood cancer patients may have a chance at receiving a life-saving stem cell transplant. Thank you!

The 1st Annual “Lace Up 4 Life” (formally Be The Match Walk+Run) 5K, 1K and Tot Trot is scheduled to take place Saturday, September 10, 2016 with the 5K kicking off at 7:30 am, 1K at 7:40 and Tot Trot at 8:15. We encourage families, teams, runners, walkers and tots to come out and join us for the run/walk and a post-race celebration with refreshments and entertainment!

Lace Up 4 Life supports the Gulf Coast Marrow Donor Program.  It is our mission to educate and register donors for the Be The Match^®  Registry, to promote awareness of the life-saving need for marrow or peripheral blood stem cell donations from adult donors to patients awaiting transplant, and to raise funds for donor testing, typing and recruitment in the Gulf Coast region.

Every year, more than 12,000 patients are diagnosed with life-threatening blood cancers, like leukemia and lymphoma, or other diseases for which a marrow transplant from an unrelated donor may be their best or only hope for a cure.  Seventy percent of all patients who need a transplant are unable to find one within their family.  Texas ranks number 1 in the nation for patients searching for a match, as well as transplants facilitated.
