I have volunteered to serve the remainder of this term because I think my past experience as a business executive and as a volunteer officer in several organizations will be useful and helpful on the Board of the Calumet Region Striders.
I retired in 2000 as Vice President, Worldwide Information Systems for Bell & Howell Mail and Messaging Technologies in Durham, NC. Prior to that I was Vice President, Information Services for Duplex Products in Sycamore, IL. Most of my career (28%2B years) was with Amoco Corporation in Chicago where I worked my way from software programmer to the Manager, Corporate Software Support Services. The last five years of my career with Amoco was as Manager, Information & Computer Services at the Amoco Research Center in Naperville, IL.
I have also served as a Member At Large for the Society for Information Management (SIM) in both Chicago, IL and Raleigh, NC. While living in Olympia Fields, IL, I served terms as Treasurer and as President of the Arcadia Homeowners Association. I am currently serving as the Treasurer, Moraine Manor Homeowners Association in Valparaiso, IN.
I have an MBA from the University of Chicago (1982 - Specialization in Economics, Concentrations in Statistics and Finance), a BS in Math & Physics from Michigan State University (1963 with High Honor) and an AA from Northwestern Michigan College (1961 with High Honor). I graduated from Bellaire High School in 1959 as the Valedictorian of my class. (50th Anniversary reunion will be this summer!).
I have been a runner for over 30 years and have served as the webmaster for the Calumet Region Striders since the middle of 2003 and as the Gold Cup statistician since 2005. I am also currently a member of the Gold Cup committee.
I am in the process of gaining background on the Stevens-Hamilton Disabled Runner Fund by contacting members of the Park Forest Running & Pancake Club (PFRPC) who originally created the Bob Stevens Fund. I will be establishing a committee to help review and recommend how these funds will be used. Rich Limacher, who is currently a member of PFRPC as well as the Striders, has accepted a position on this committee. As I add members, I will update this information.
