Welcome to my Ultra55 Page!
This race is to benefit the Snowdrop Foundation which helps to fund research for pediatric cancers as well provide scholarships to pediatric cancer survivors. The foundation was inspired by childhood cancer patient Chelsey Campbell who had a record setting 27 hour surgery at Texas Children's Cancer Center. While there were many shift changes, there was 1 primary surgeon and 1 assistant surgeon who stayed throughout the whole surgery. The 55 hours represents the time the two surgeons took to save 1 patient. (27 + 27 + 1 = 55)
I have had the privilege to participate in this race on a fantastic relay team (Go Team Guru Burger!) for the past five years and this year I'm branching off on my own as a solo runner with the goal of completing 100 miles. I know the goal is difficult, but it still is not as difficult a journey that a pediatric cancer patient will go through.
Everybody has had somebody in their lives touched by cancer and I feel no child should have to go through it! Please consider a donation to sponsor my run and help stomp out pediatric cancer! #runforthosewhocannot #runovercancer
