This is my 3rd time to participant in the Snowdrop Foundation 55 hr ultra event. Participants run, walk or crawl as many laps as they can in the allotted time of 55 hours on a .69 mile loop. The event will begin Monday 12/30/19 at 7 a.m. and end Wednesday 1/1/20 at 2 p.m. Most participants hope to complete at least 100 miles - but the event also attracts world class runners competing to break the 55 hour world record. I'd truly appreciate it if you would support my participation by donating to help the Snowdrop Foundation meet its fundraising goal.
Below is a brief history about the founder, Kevin Kline.
Kevin and his team are amazing. In order to raise funds Kevin has run over 175 marathons/ultra marathons. He also recently attempted to complete the 302 mile Dalton Highway. He physically completed 239.2 miles carrying a backpack with the names of over 1,800 pediatric cancer patients. He ran in fierce winds and temperature well below 0. He finished in 9 day on his 50th birthday.
Kevin Kline, a local radio D.J., met 15 year old Chelsey Campbell at a radio station fundraising event at the Texas Children's Center in December of 2005. He became friends with Chelsey and her parents. Chelsey lost her battle to cancer. Kevin and his wife, Trish, established the Snowdrop Foundation in her honor. The Snowdrop Foundation is dedicated to assisting patients and families at the Texas Children's Cancer Center through funding for continued research to eliminate childhood cancer and also provide scholarships for college bound pediatric cancer patients and survivors. They raise money through various events but The Snowdrop Ultra 55 is the main fundraising event.
