I was 25 years old when my dad died and at the time I remember thinking how I could not imagine my life going on without him in it.  I had just started volunteering at The WARM Place the March before his death and I remember listening to the stories that the children would share in group and looking at there faces and them teaching me that life can and will go on.  That the pain of loosing him may never go away but it will get better, that I can keep his memory alive and never forget, that my love for him didn't end.  It's amazing what children will teach you and it's amazing how events in your life lead you to exactly where you are meant to be.  Following my dad's death in December of 2010 I continued my volunteer work at The WARM Place, I remember not knowing how soon was too soon to return to group but knowing for me there was no where else I would rather be.  Eventually my role as a Volunteer lead me to joining the staff and this year I was honored to be named the Executive Director.  I truly believe my dad had a hand in all of this and know I am where I meant to be.  

This March my dad, Mac Spikes, would be 65 years old.  Unfortunately he won't be here to celebrate that birthday with us but each year as a family we get together to remember him on special days like these.  This year we will be participating as a family in the Race 2 Remember Them on March 3rd and as a family we have decided to raise $1,065  for The WARM Place in honor of his 65th birthday!  

In true Mac style the Spikes' girls have decided to turn our fundraising effort into a competition to see who can bring in the most donation...all for a great cause!  So we hope you will join us in remembering Mac and continuing his legacy of making friends your family, enjoying life, loving your family, and helping others.  

I'd love you to help the baby sister out and let me show those big girls who's the real boss!!!! Thank you in advance for helping us reach our goal- your support allows The WARM Place to continue to provide grief support services at no charge to the families in our program.
