About This Event
Yuri's Night is a global celebration of human space achievement, held on the anniversaries of the first human into space, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, and the first orbital flight of the US Space Shuttle. This year marks the 53rd and 33rd anniversaries respectively of these two monumental achievements.
The race is a 5 km run/walk through the City of Nassau Bay, where many astronauts, engineers, technicians and flight directors have lived from the early days of the Apollo program to the current day. A 1K Kid's Run will be held starting at 7:45 a.m., and the 5k will follow immediately thereafter.
All proceeds from this event benefit the Houston Learning Center of the Challenger Center for Space Science Education, which is co-located with the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
