According to the American Cancer Society, excluding skin cancers, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States. It is the third leading cause ofcancer-related deaths in the United States when men and women are considered separately, and the second leading cause when both sexes are combined. However, colorectal cancer, relative to other malignancies is a preventable cancer. Thanks to colorectal cancer screening and advances in treatment, the death rate from colorectal cancer has declined. In fact, screening is also allowing more colorectal cancers to be found earlier when the disease is easier to cure. There are now more than 1 million survivors of colorectal cancer in the United States. Colorectal cancer screening can help save lives! In order to help promote colorectal cancer screening, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is hosting its 10th Annual S.C.O.P.E (Sprint for Colorectal Oncology Prevention and Education) 5K Fun Run/Walkon March 28, 2015. S.C.O.P.E invites you to partner with us to build awareness, promote education and celebrate survivorship.

Survivor's Fair

SCOPE is dedicated to honoring all individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer.  A special Survivor's Fair will be held on race day, offering educational information about cancer awareness, support groups, and more.
