Houston is a major hub for human trafficking. Here is your opportunity to learn about this huge problem and make a difference!
Free the Captives, an anti-human trafficking non-profit in Houston, is hosting Freedom Fest and 5K Run, a major awareness event on April 11, 2015 at Mason Park, 541 S. 75th St., Houston, TX 77023. Free the Captives works to rescue and restore teenaged human trafficking victims in Houston. By working closely with law enforcement and family members, Free the Captives helps rescue teen victims from the horrors of trafficking. After being rescued, Free the Captives focuses on restoration and rehabilitation by offering safe home referrals, support groups for victims and parents, educational support, mentoring, financial/material support, and job preparation.
Free the Captives is organizing Freedom Fest and 5K Run to raise awareness about human trafficking. It is important for parents to be educated about this problem and learn how to protect their children. Freedom Fest starts with a 5K at Mason Park and ends with a FREE family friendly festival. At the festival, there will be FREE food, music, and games. There will also be speakers on human trafficking. All information will be age appropriate for children. There is a fee to participate in the 5K but there is no cost for the festival. So join us for one or both parts!
