Mike Reilly, The Voice of Ironman, and my long-time friend, joined me recently for a great evening of story telling for the Triathlon Club of San Diego.
Daniela Ryf is the most dominant triathlete on the planet right now. Fresh off her win and new course record at Ironman 70.3 Oceanside, the four-time Ironman World Champion joined us for a Q&A with the always awesome Tri Club of San Diego.
For the past two years Cam Wurf has broken the Ironman World Championship bike course record and led off the bike. As a former Olympic rower and pro cyclist, Cam is simply one of the most unique talents – and personalities – to become part of our sport. Cam joined me to go through his race experience at the 2018 World Championship in Kona.
The day after the Ironman World Championship we interviewed the top 4 professional men and women finishers, filmed on location at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. Interviews include: David McNamee, 3rd place; Sarah True, 4th place; Bart Aernouts, 2nd place; Daniela Ryf: Women’s Champion; Patrick Lange: Men’s Champion; Lucy Charles, 2nd place; Timothy O’Donnell, 4th place; and Anne Haug, 3rd place.
For the women’s race, there was big drama on race morning as word spread that the 3-time defending champion Chrissie Wellington had pulled out when she was too sick to start.
In the men’s and women’s pro races, we saw battles between multiple-win champions, and some second place finishes that left the fires burning for that top step.
