Update 9/13/16: I got the All Clear - Cancer Free from my Doctor this morning.  The surgery was a success and I only have to do follow up testing every 4-6 months for the next few years. There is a 95% chance of staying cancer free!!!!! Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support!

Thank you for taking the time to view my Fundraising page for the Houston Marathon.  As you may or may not be aware, earlier this year I was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer and have been fighting this horrible disease with everything I have. I’ve already had one surgery and will go through follow up testing early September.

I made a commitment that I was going to finish the Calpine Houston Marathon on January 15th, 2016 regardless of where I was in my battle.  Now keep in mind, I have never ran over 3 miles at one time in my life, so this is another battle I will overcome through hard work and great friends.  My 14 year old son Tryston has also decided to finish the Half Marathon with me.  We would both really love your support by either coming with us, or helping us raise money for CanCare so we can all help someone in need while going through this horrible battle.

Calpine is a sponsor of the Houston Marathon and I have chosen my charity to be CanCare which is based here in Houston. If you have personally had Cancer, or know someone close who has had it then you know the emotional and financial battles they will encounter.  I was personally very lucky in my battle by which I live close to MD Anderson and I had a tremendous support system here locally. Most people are not that lucky and not only do they have to fight the physical battle that Cancer causes, they also have to find ways to raise money for travel and other expenditures while keeping their spirits up.  We all know stress is a major factor that prohibits our bodies from staying healthy and beating this horrible disease.  CanCare offers support to not only cancer patients, but also the families that are going through it with them.  They have Hospital visitation programs to reach out and give that personal support
