Lunches of Love, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is committed to helping end childhood hunger in Rosenberg-Richmond by providing a free nutritious sack lunch during extended school holidays and weekends.

Lunches of Love, often referred to as "LoL", began as a ministry of First United Methodist Church Rosenberg during Christmas break 2009 and fed approximately 150 children.  LoL now feeds 4,000+ children and expanded their program to include 15 LCISD schools, 2 FBISD schools and a second host site - Lunches of Love at The Harvest.

LoL feeds children in need and those qualifying for the state’s free or reduced lunch program.

LoL’s vision for the future is to sustain their current program while expanding to include additional Title 1 schools.  They are committed to helping end childhood hunger among these innocent children.

LoL at The Harvest serves nutritious care packages on the weekends during the school year. Each lunch costs approximately $1.50. 

Inside Every Bag:

•  Main Entree- Mac and Cheese or Ravioli
•  Goldfish, pretzels or wheat thins
•  Fruit, yogurt, or low fat snack
•  Crackers
•  Cereal

Many children living in families facing food insecurity rely on school lunch as their only meal of the day.  

In our community, a large percentage (over 87% - Title 1 Schools) of our children are on free and reduced lunches during the school year.  Many of these children would go hungry without LoL.

Hunger impairs our children’s health in significant and long-lasting ways:

• Impedes growth and development
• More illness, including stomach- and headaches, colds, ear infections and fatigue
• Poorer mental health
• More hospitalizations
• Have impaired cognitive functioning and diminished capacity to learn
• Achieve lower test scores and overall school performance
