Unfortunately, that is the sad reality in many remote Alaskan communities.   Even though most households have dogs, most are never seen by a vet.   For pet owners, flying dogs to hub cities is logistically challenging and financially impossible.  As a result, Rabies and Parvo are a real threat to pets and humans.  Un-spayed female dogs have unwanted pregnancies year after year; it is impossible to find homes for so many puppies and many get destroyed without having humane euthanasia methods available.

Upon request from a remote community, ARVO organizes a volunteer medical team to fly to that village.  We set up a mobile clinic in a public building such as a Community Center and provide much-needed low-cost veterinary care.
