Houston is a major hub for human trafficking. Here is your opportunity to learn about this huge problem and make a difference! Sign up as an individual or invite your friends! Create your own team for the 5K and help us raise awareness about human trafficking in Houston. You can also JOIN a team. Both can be accomplished by registering below and following the prompts about "teams" during the registration process.
Free the Captives, an anti-human trafficking non-profit in Houston, is hosting Freedom Fest and 5K Run, a major awareness event at Mason Park, 541 S. 75th St., Houston, TX 77023. Free the Captives works to rescue and restore teenaged human trafficking victims in Houston. By working closely with law enforcement and family members, Free the Captives helps rescue teen victims from the horrors of trafficking. After being rescued, Free the Captives focuses on restoration and rehabilitation by offering safe home referrals, support groups for victims and parents, educational support, mentoring, financial/material support, and job preparation.
Free the Captives is organizing Freedom Fest and 5K Run to raise awareness about human trafficking. It is important for parents to be educated about this problem and learn how to protect their children. Freedom Fest starts with a 5K at Mason Park and ends with a FREE family friendly festival. At the festival, there will be FREE food, music, and games. There will also be speakers on human trafficking. All information will be age appropriate for children. There is a fee to participate in the 5K but there is no cost for the festival. So join us for one or both parts!
**PLEASE NOTE: We will have t-shirts and totebags for the first 1000 runners and walkers. These must be picked up during packet pick-up. They will not be available after the race.
Packet Pick-Up: Packet pick up will be on Friday, April 20 from 11am to 7pm at Athleta in (Town & Country Village, 600 West Sam Houston Pkwy N, Houston, TX 77024) as well as early Saturday morning from 6:45am to 8:00am at Mason Park, 541 S. 75th Street, Houston, TX 77023. We recommend that you arrive as close to 6:45am as possible due to long lines.
