19th Annual Jimmy Bernardo Memorial Motorcycle Run

"Jimmy's Ride"

Sunday July 13, 2014

On October 20, 1990, 12 year old Jimmy Bernardo of Pittsfield was abducted from the Pittsfield Cinema Center on West Housatonic Street, and his body was discovered in Ithaca, NY a month later.  After a long 3+ years, the Bernardo family was able to find peace when the man who abused and killed Jimmy was arrested.  This is a story Berkshire County will never forget.  It brought light to the reality of child abuse, the reality that it happens everywhere, even in our small Berkshire community.  In his memory, Jimmy's family started Jimmy's Ride, a motorcycle run followed by a post-ride party that benefits Berkshire County Kids' Place, a Children's Advocacy Center that provides services to children who have experienced physical abuse, sexual abuse, or witness to violence in the home and their non-offending family members.  Services are at no cost to the children and their non-offending families.
