Remember back in your high school (or college) glory days when you would lace up the old cross country spikes on Saturday morning and hit the rugged 5k (or 2 mile) course early Saturday morning with your XC teammates?
Or have you ever wanted to experience a different kind of running race aside for the standard run up and down Allen Parkway until your feet want to explode from the pounding on the pavement?
Better yet – do you want to support an awesome community that is making a difference every day in the lives of hundreds of adults with disabilities aged 18 to 77?
If any of this sounds interesting to you then please register for the 2017 Run Brookwood XC Race Benefiting the Brookwood Community and brought to you by The Brookwood Community Young Professionals, JSC/SBS Worldwide, The Houston Marathon Foundation, Anadarko and CATAPULT. This event will be an actual cross country style race –10k of running across the beautiful rolling countryside The Brookwood Community’s 485 acre+ campus in Brookshire, TX (35 miles west of downtown Houston).
But here is the kicker – this race is not about you! No - this race is about the Brookwood Community citizens. In addition to 100% of the proceeds from this race benefiting the community, the residents of Brookwood will also take the course after the 10k XC race and race a 5k run/walk championships of their own that they have been diligently training for! If you are participating as a runner in the 10k XC run then we ask that you stick around and support the Brookwood citizens as they compete in their 5k race after the XC style race. Want to contribute even more? Bring an old finisher’s medal from one of your recent races to donate to one of The Brookwood Community residents and hand to them as they finish their race!
This is a very unique style race that should bring out some of Houston’s finest runners and also benefits an awesome organization. The course will be professionally timed and sanctioned.
