Dr. Mark Henry and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD are excited to present the 3rd annual Superintendent's Fun Run & Festival at Towne Lake, a Caldwell Community, Superheroes for Kids! The event is underwritten by Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital and benefits the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation. The Fun Run & Festival has something for everyone including a live band - Sawdust Road, a variety of vendor booths, delicious food trucks, student performances, a children's play zone, a 1 mile run, a family walking path and a certified 5k! Sign up a team and come join the fun!

 

The Family Walking Path

The course is great for the whole family including Rover. Strollers and wagons are also welcome. You may enter the path, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., which takes you around the lakes of Lone Star College. Visit the turtles and ducks along the way.

 

Four event wristbands are provided at packet pick-up for the family walking path registrations. Additional items and/or wristbands may be added during registration. Event wristbands are not required for strollers and wagons.

 

The 5k

This chip-timed, certified 5k course will take you through the Towne Lake neighborhood where you will be met with cheers along the way. Water stations and course support will be provided along the path. There is one option for a medal race, which starts promptly at 8:00 a.m.

Other race start times are 8:45 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. These races are also timed; however, medals are only awarded for the 8:00 a.m. race. At 10:15 a.m., the 5k course is open for all registered 5k runners, but timing is not available.

 

For the 8:00 a.m. medal race, medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each age/gender category. Medals will also be awarded to the Overall Male Student, Overall Female Student, Overall Male Masters (18+), Overall Female Masters (18+), Overall Male Grand Masters (50+) and Overall Female Grand Masters (50+).

 

The award ceremony begins approximately at 10:00 a.m. on the main stage.

 

Goodie bag, t-shirt, and event wristband provided at packet pick-up for 5k registrations. Goodie bags include sponsor information, superhero tattoos and an event bammie.

 

The 1-mile Run

A great run for beginners and recreational runners. This 1-mile path (not timed) will take you through the Lone Star College campus. The 1-mile run starts promptly at 8:15 a.m. and remains open to enter through 11:00 a.m.

 

Goodie bag provided at packet pick-up for 1-mile registrations. Goodie bags include sponsor information, superhero tattoos and an event bammie.

 

The Party!

Stick around after the race and enjoy the event! From food trucks, to vendor booths, to photo ops with mascots and superheroes, this event has many fun aspects. You can also take a tour of the Superhero Bus, watch performances by community groups, listen to Sawdust Road (live band), spend time in the children’s zone with bounce houses, a rock wall, a bungee run, go karts and much more!

 

We even have a special area to watch your sidekicks get in on the race day fun! *Sidekicks, up to 4 years old

 

How Do I Sign Up?

Sign-up for any of the three options through online registration prior to the event. Should you wish to register in person (prior to the deadline), please call 281-807-8900.

 

The deadline to ensure your participation and full receipt of race items is February 2, 2016 at 11:59 p.m.

 

Late registration, will incur an additional $5.00 fee per registration, and continue online through 12:00 noon on February 24, 2016. After February 24, 2016 at noon, online registration is closed and you must register onsite the morning of the event from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

 

Packet Pick-Up

Packet Pick-Up will occur on Monday through Thursday, February 22nd to February 25th from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Cy-Fair High Annex building located at Hwy 290 and Telge (22602 Northwest Freeway, Cypress, Texas 77429).

 

There is one late night option for packet pick-up, on Wednesday, February 24th, as the hours are extended to 8:30 p.m.

 

If you choose to register after the February 2 deadline or the morning of the race, your race items are not guaranteed to be in stock; however, will be made available to you within thirty days after the event.

 

Cost of the Events

5k: $30 Early Bird Special for non-students until January 15

       $40 Regular Registration for non-students between December 19th and January 29th

       $20 for students (K-12/Lone Star College)

 

1-mile: $15 per participant

 

Family Path: $20 per family (includes up to four people); additional family members/wristbands may be added for $3 each

 

What Happens After I Sign Up?

You will receive a confirmation email and updates along the way. Be sure to register with an email address you check frequently. It is best to stop by at packet pick-up in order to be fully prepared to participate on race day.

 

What Do I Wear To The Event?

Because you will be running, light clothing (weather appropriate) is suggested, along with a great pair of athletic shoes! Flip flops and sandals will not be allowed on the paths for safety reasons. We encourage all participants to get into the spirit of the event and put on your favorite superhero costume and/or accessories!

 

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Campus and Community Incentives

The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD campus/building with the most registrations will be recognized and receive a special token to keep at their campus until next year's event! If you work for or support CFISD, be sure to designate which campus/building you belong to when you register for a team! The first person to register for each campus can designate the team name.

 

The community location (e.g. business, neighborhood, church, non-profit, etc.) with the most registrations will also be recognized and receive a special token to keep at their location! The first person to sign up from a group must create the team name for others to join the team.
