About
The Monster Dash is a 5k Run, 1/2 mile Kids Run and a 1-1/2 mile walk.The race is very family friendly and all ages are welcome. Costumes are encouraged. Food and entertainment will be provided.
Mission
The Monster Dash Fun Run is designed to raise awareness about ichthyosis, as well as the much needed funds for FIRST to help support its research into the causes, treatments, and cures.
Company Overview
The Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types (F.I.R.S.T.) is a national nonprofit organization devoted to helping families affected by ichthyosis. Ichthyosis is a family of genetic skin disorders characterized by dry, scaling skin that may be thickened or very thin. Each year, more than 16,000 babies are born with some form of ichthyosis. A recent study has determined that approximately 300 babies are born each year with a moderate to severe form of ichthyosis. Ichthyosis affects people of all ages, races and gender. The disease usually presents at birth, or within the first year, and continues to affect the patient throughout their lifetime.
Registration and Packet Pick up begins at 7am. There is no pre packet pickup prior to race day.
5k Run, ½ mile kids Run, and a 1-½ mile walk: Kids race starts at 8am with the 5k and walk immediately following. Kids ½ mile; all receive medallions Runners: 5K (3.1 miles) receive trophies
Trophies given to 1st and 2nd place, male & female categories: Age groups 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, and 1st overall
Food will be provided by Taco Cabana. Free caricatures will be provided by Caricatures by Jody. Two Texans cheerleaders will be on site to sign autographs and take photos. Also, a photo booth will be there so be sure and get your complimentary pictures.
Children Strollers welcome. NO DOGS!!! You will be asked to take the dog home.
We understand that your dog is an important member of your family, but in order to maintain a level of safety during the race and to comply with race regulations, we discourage dogs
from participating in the Monster Dash Fun Run. We LOVE dogs but have to do this for safety issues.
