Event Information
Dr. Mark Henry and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD are excited to present the 2nd annual Superintendent Fun Run, Superheroes For Kids! This event will benefit the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation. Click www.thecfef.org for more details on how you can make a difference in the lives of CFISD students through CFEF! This event has something for everyone such as; a live band - Sawdust Road, over 40 vendor booths, delicious food trucks from the community, and a special appearance by TORO and Texans cheerleaders!
The 5k
This chip-timed, certified 5k course will take you through the Towne Lake neighborhood where you will be met with cheers along the way. Water stations and course support will be provided along the path. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age category. Medals will also be awarded to the Overall Male, Female, Student, Masters (18+), and Grand Masters (50+). Goodie bag, t-shirt, and event lanyard provided at packet pick-up. Goodie bags include sponsor items and a unique super hero item.
There will be three start times for the 5K Race - 8:00 a.m., 8:30 a.m., and 9:00 a.m. The awards ceremony will begin at approximately 10:15 a.m. Any runners still on the course at the time of the awards ceremony are not eligible to win a medal.
The 1-mile Run
A great run for beginners and recreational runners. This 1-mile path (not timed) will take you through the Lone Star College campus. Completion ribbons will be presented at the end of the run to all participants. Goodie bag provided at packet pick-up. Goodie bags include sponsor items and a unique super hero item.
The official start time for the 1 mile run will be 8:15 a.m.; however, the course will remain open throughout the morning for runners who choose to run at different times, as this is an un-timed event.
Family Walking Path
This course is great for the whole family, including Rover! The path takes you around the lakes of Lone Star College where you can visit the turtles and ducks along the way. This path is pet & stroller friendly! Family registration comes with four (4) event lanyards (Each participant is required to have a lanyard, additional lanyards are $3/ea.). Infants in strollers are not required to wear a lanyard.
The Party!
Stick around after the race and enjoy samples from Raising Cane's, photo ops with mascots and superheroes, performances by community performing arts groups, bounce houses, rock wall, bungee run, and more! We even have a special area to watch your sidekicks get in on the race day fun! (Sidekicks, up to 4 years old.)
How Do I Sign Up?
Sign-up for any of the three options is by online registration prior to the event. Should you wish to register in person (prior to the deadline) call 281-807-8900.
The deadline to ensure your participation and full receipt of the race items is January 31, 2015 at 11:59 p.m.
Early registration has been extended until February 4, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. (T-shirts may not be available until after the event if registering after January 31st.)
Late registration, will incur an additional $5.00 fee per registration, and continue online through 12:00 noon on February 20, 2015. Onsite registration will be taken the morning of the event from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
If you choose to register after the deadline, you will need to come to packet pick up for paperwork/bib #s and event lanyards.
If you choose to register after the deadline or the morning of the race, the additional items that go along with your registration (i.e. goodie bag, t-shirt, special superhero item*, etc.) will be made available for pick up at least three weeks after the event.
5k: registration is $40 for non-students, $20 for students (K-12/Lone Star College), add $5 for late registration
1-mile: registration is $15, add $5 for late registration
Family Path: registration is $20, add $5 for late registration
**The registration deadline to receive your goodie bag/t-shirt at packet pick-up is January 31st! Participants who register past the deadline can still pick up their bib # and event lanyard at packet pick-up. Sign-ups received past the deadline (including walk-ups the day of the event) will be able to pick up their goodie bag/t-shirt at least three weeks after the event. Items received will vary based on the race in which you registered.
What Happens After I Sign Up?
You will receive a confirmation email and updates along the way. Be sure to register with an email address you check frequently. You must plan on stopping by packet pick-up in order to be fully prepared to participate on race day.
What Do I Wear To The Event?
Because you will be running, light clothing (weather appropriate) is suggested, along with a great pair of running shoes! Flip flops and sandals will not be allowed on the running paths for safety reasons. We encourage all participants to get into the spirit of the event and put on your favorite superhero costume and/or accessories!
Packet Pick-Up
February 16: 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
February 17: 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
February 18: 6:30 a. m. - 8:00 p.m.
You will want to stop by the Community Programs office to pick up your goodie bag, bib #, t-shirt, and lanyards prior to the race (items vary depending on the race in which you registered). The Community Programs office is located at 22602 Northwest Freeway, Cy Fair Annex; Cypress, TX 77429.
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Campus and Community Incentives
The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD campus/building with the most registrants will be recognized and receive a special token to keep at their campus until next year's event! Be sure to designate which campus/building you belong to when you register!
The community location with the most registrants will also be recognized and receive a special token to keep at their location! The first person to sign up from a group must create the name for others to join the team.
