This is my 8th year to participate in the in-person Snowdrop Ultra 55 Hour Race and Relay. It's been the highlight of my year. This year, my goal is $2500 and a minimum of 100 miles. I'm not so sure I can reeach my mileage goal as I had a total knee replacement just nine months ago and rehab and training has been difficult.
My first reason in participating is always to help raise funds for pediatric cancer research to find a cure. My second reason is to help bring awareness to our military personel who we lose to mental illness and suicide. Evecry day.... every DAY, we lose an average of 22 military personnel to suicide. My family was personally affected by this when my Army veteran nephew, Adam Cajiuat Posadas, willingly fell off the Tacoma Narrows Bridge on March 7, 2016. I also have college friends who lost their son, Micah, to suicide. He was in the Navy. I would like to challenge people to support a military family in one way or another on a weekly basis, so I run for our military family.
I'm not sure how many miles I can get this year, due to a total knee replacement, but I'm willing to give it my best by getting as many miles as I can in the 55 hours allotted for this event. Won't you please help me reach my goal? Please and thank you.
