It is impossible to put on a quality race without the dedication of wonderful volunteers.   Your participation, at whatever level you can support, is critical to the continued success of the Eye of the Dragon!   This year, the race is especially meaningful to me as the race director, as the charity of choice is the Florida ALS chapter.  One of my colleagues passed away last year after a valiant struggle with this disease, and we want to honor his memory by walking and running for those who are forever unable to do so themselves.   Funds raised by the Eye of the Dragon will go to ALSA to support community outreach, education and research..and importantly, direct support to the victims of ALS.  

The race is February 28th, 2015 starting at 0730 at the Eau Gallie Civic Center on Highland Avenue, but as you know, months of planning and effort have to be accomplished before the magic day!  Please sign up for whatever task you would like the most, and if you don't see what you want to do, email me!

Distribute pre-registered participants race bags, take day of race registrations, keep track of money and registration forms, coordinate with Running Zone to ensure all runners are entered for timing

Man water tables, distribute water to runners on course, clean up cups, etc during and after race.

Post Race Food
There are a number of jobs to do here; no one person has to do them all! Bake food for race, ask vendors to provide food, set up food (baked goods, fruit) on tables on the day of race, ensure that food items are refreshed during post race activities. Some activities are performed prior to race day

Door Prizes
Many jobs to do, but one person does not have to do them all! Request door prizes from vendors and maintain list of prizes. Ensure prizes are delivered to race on race day. Create a bag for each prize for participants to use to choose the prize they wish to win. Create poster for listing all prizes and entering winners on day of event. Collect tickets and pick and record winners for each prize. Some activities are performed prior to race day

Volunteer Waiver
Please read any waiver carefully. It includes a release of liability and waiver of legal rights and deprives you of the ability to sue certain parties. Do not agree to this document unless you have read and understood it in its entirety. By agreeing electronically, you acknowledge that you have both read and understood the text presented to you as part of the registration process. You also understand and agree that events carry certain inherent dangers and risks which may or may not be readily foreseeable, including without limitation personal injury, property damage or death. Your ability to participate in the event(s) is/are subject to your agreement to the waiver and by agreeing herein, you accept and agree to the terms of the waiver and release agreement. You must be over 18 years of age OR the parent/legal guardian of a minor under 18 years of age OR the legal guardian of an incapacitated and/or mentally challenged person in order to agree to the text below.

Release form: I assume all risks associated with my participation as a participant for the event on this form including but not limited to injuries, contact with other participants including registered runners and volunteers, the effects of the weather, and traffic and hazards of the road; all such risks are known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release Space Coast Runners, Road Runners Club of America, and other sponsors and officials involved from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in the event. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose.
