WHAT IS THE TEXAS MARINE MAMMAL STRANDING NETWORK?
The Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network is a non-profit, volunteer based orgaTnization that is supported by donations from the public and grants. TMMSN is the only stranding network in the state of Texas authorized to rescue and rehabilitate marine mammals. Each year the Texas Coast sees an average of 150 stranded marine mammals. The goals of the TMMSN are to immediately respond to live animals, stabilize them on the beach, and transport them to the rehabilitation center. TMMSN also responds to deceased animals to gather important data to determine the cause of stranding. |
