Dear friends and family,

Matt and I hope that you will make a donation today to a cause that is close to our hearts: Heroes for Children (HFC).  It is an organization dedicated to supporting families who have a child battling cancer.   HFC provides direct financial assistance to families who are struggling under the weight of cancer-related healthcare costs.  It also provides social assistance by planning uplifting events and helping families celebrate milestones that would otherwise be missed while in the hospital. 

We were introduced to HFC through our close friends, Trey and Melissa Yost.  Their three-year-old daughter, Kate, is a cancer survivor.  Kate is a vivacious and loving little girl who our daughter, Charlotte, adores. 

Trey and Melissa work tirelessly to advance HFC’s mission and are currently leading the committee in charge of HFC’s annual 5K fundraiser.  The Heart of Gold 5K & Fun Run will be held on September 27 in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  We will be participating with the Yosts and their team, “Kate’s Crusaders,” in celebration of Kate’s continued remission.

Leading up to the event, we hope that you will show your support by donating to this wonderful organization.  While HFC is a local organization benefitting Texas families, we feel that childhood cancer touches us all, and that is why we are reaching out to you.  Common requests HFC receives from families include help with: mortgage and rent payments; utilities, phone, gas, and car payments; hotel and travel expenses for travel to and from the hospital; and sadly, funeral expenses for children who have lost their fight with cancer.  When these families do not have to worry about such basic needs as putting groceries on the table, they can be more emotionally adept at handling the ongoing stressors of having a child with cancer.  HFC strives to fund each and every need and depends on donors to do so.
