Welcome to my Heart of Gold 5K/Fun Run fundraising page, benefiting Heroes for Children.  My name is Megan and in October 2012, when I was only 4 months old, I was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma, a rare form of liver cancer.  Over the next 7 months, I battled my cancer, with the help of my awesome Doctors and Nurses, through numerous rounds of chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and a liver/tumor resection.  I am happy to report, with much help and great blessings, that I won my battle with cancer on April 8, 2012!!!

Through this special experience, I have met some very special people.  And at the top of the list is Heroes for Children.  This organization has one vision: No family with a child battling cancer will fight alone. They provide financial and social assistance to families in Texas who have a child battling cancer.  During my experience, they helped my family pay medical bills, provided help to pay for the gasoline needed to take me back and forth to the hospital for treatments, and even gave me and my family the chance to go to fun social events to help take away some of the stress of having a family member battling cancer.  I love Heroes for Children!!
