The King Cove Women's Club has been an important part of the King Cove community for generations by hosting events and activities that bring the community together.  The Annual Christmas Program, Easter Egg Hunt, and 4th of July Celebration are just some examples of the holiday activities that the King Cove Women's Club has hosted and continues to host for the members of our community.  My name is Fanny Jo Newton, and I was lucky enough to grow up in King Cove and have the opportunity to attend activities as a participant and now give back as a volunteer.  Because I currently live in Anchorage and am not able to show my support for the King Cove Women's Club at home, I have decided to show my support in Anchorage!

 

The 16th Annual Alaska Visitor Industry Charity Walk helps raise money for Alaskan Charities and Nonprofit Organizations.  This year the event consists of a 5K "Graze to Raise" and includes a walking course through downtown Anchorage where attendants can sample local foods and participate in family-friendly activities as they raise money for their organizations.  There will also be a "WOW" event at the finish line of the walk where children's activities, prize drawings, live music and other entertainment activities will be held. 

 

I thought this would be a great opportunity to gather people in Anchorage who are from King Cove, or have some kind of ties to King Cove and the King Cove Women's Club.  Whether growing up there and experiencing some of the activities themselves, or simply visiting for a summer and getting to participate in the 4th of July Celebration.  All are welcome to come and join the Team and help raise money for a great non-profit organization!
