2016 HOUSTON RUN FOR RECOVERY Benefitting: Run For Recovery

The Houston Run for Recovery, now entering its fifth year with its annual race and community celebration scheduled for September 28, 2014, is showing its staying power in a community known as one of the strongest in the nations burgeoning recovery movement.

Proceeds from the Run for Recovery provide treatment scholarships for three main recovery facilities in Houston; Santa Maria Hostel, Extended Aftercare, Inc., and The Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Houston.

Santa Maria Hostel is a 501c3, non-profit organization with over 50 years of experience serving women in crisis, and continually responding to the emerging needs of the community.  In 1995, they were recognized as one of Texas' best-managed centers for the treatment and care of addicted women and their children.  They are proud to have the distinction of being the largest treatment center in Texas and, through your support, will continue to respond to the evolving needs of women and children. They feature two residential facilities capable of providing a home-like environment for women alone and with their children while in treatment for addiction.  Once a client has utilized either supportive or intensive residential services, they offer a continuum of services to assist her in living a sober life. They offer mental health services as well as outpatient programming at multiple sites.

Extended Aftercare, Inc. is a 501c3, non-profit organization that has offered long term residential treatment to men for over 23 years.  EAI offers Long Term Residential Treatment which is a level of care that includes all the counseling and programming of an acute inpatient facility - except at EAI, the 90 day stay, coupled with our open-campus work/school policy and sober activities schedule, provides clients a better chance of integrating their new recovery into their lives outside of treatment. By the time a client reaches the end stages of treatment at Extended Aftercare, Inc. he has gained the knowledge and support he needs to balance the realities of work, school, family, friends, responsibilities and his own recovery program. The ultimate goal of the program at Extended Aftercare, Inc. is to facilitate the clients transition to sober, independent living.

The Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Houston. Alcoholism, addiction, drug dependency and other compulsive behaviors are complex diseases. Fortunately, The Council can help anyone at any time with issues related to alcohol, drugs or other compulsions. We do this through prevention, intervention, outpatient treatment and aftercare, education and outreach.

At The Council, we believe in finding solutions to effectively treat this type of disease, and we are committed to turning no one away for an inability to pay. We reach people at home, at school, at work and in the community and meet individuals, families and businesses wherever they are in the cycle of addiction, from non-use, to addiction, to recovery.
