How Many Steps Will You Take Benefitting: Footsteps For The Fallen

Now that Tony has finished the 24 Hours on a Treadmill in 50lbs of firefighting gear, Mike Ramsdell has answered Tony's challenge with his own journey!

Team Footsteps member, Mike Ramsdell is currently a 16 year active duty United States Marine that has been an active member of Team Footsteps, since the inception of the organization. Mike continues to push his limits and strives to honor our fallen with taking one footstep at a time. Ultramarathons have been a new life journey, for him to actually honor our fallen, but also to assist him with struggles that he deals with as being a service member that has completed multiple deployments throughout his career.

Mike started running ultramarathons in 2014 and has not looked back. Mike has completed multiple 50 kilometer, 50 mile, 100k and one 100 mile race in this short time of running ultramarathons. All the while his driving motivation is completing these races for those who cannot. Mikes belief is that enduring a little pain to recognize those who has paid the ultimate sacrifice. These races are always a means of showing that honor, and on October 29th, 2016 he will be venturing out on another epic journey to honor our fallen.

Closing out Fire Prevention month he is following the Team Footsteps mission on “How Many Steps Will You Take” in a 24 hour endurance challenge. He is currently registered and will be running “ROAM Ultras 24 Hour Endurance Race, Dia De Los Muertos 24 Endurance Run” to honor our fallen. This race will take place on a USATF .59 certified loop, in Lillington, North Carolina. This race will be to accept the challenge from Team Footsteps and continue to rise awareness across this great nation for our fallen brothers & sisters!

There are few jobs that require the courage and selfless dedication to helping others as being a Firefighter or First Responder.  Few know this better than Tony Constanzo, a 32 year veteran firefighter and founder of Footsteps For The Fallen.  Footsteps For The Fallen is a non-profit organization that honors the memory of Texas Firefighters who lost their lives on duty by helping the children of Texas Firefighters & EMS First Responders with scholarships.  Recently, Constanzo announced he will be running 24 Hour on a treadmill in full firefighting gear with airpack, starting a 12 noon on Sept 30, ending at 12 noon on Oct 1, 2016, to raise awareness and funds for the organization, in honor of every Texas Firefighter who ever made the ultimate sacrifice helping to keep people safe. This event will take place at the City of La Porte’s Fitness Center, 1322 South Broadway, La Porte, Texas, 77571.

“This run is to honor all fallen firefighters in Texas that answered the call knowing they could be giving it all, and did,” commented Constanzo about the coming run. “Endurance running is one of my passions and it's an honor to be able to leverage my passion for running and testing myself for such an important cause. Wearing my gear, every firefighter can understand just how hot and heavy it is.”
