EVENT INFORMATION

FAST 2021 Summer Challenge

  • Open to all Yearly Members.
  • It is a set of workouts that only FAST members can participate in.  The challenge has 3 basic events spread through the summer, each item is a Saturday (Sunday is a back-up day for inclement weather) – See below for the schedule but it follows a progression of difficulty
  • All events are done at the same time as other members, not virtual, but in real life, typically 8 am start
  • The cost of the challenge is free unless you want a limited edition 2021 club challenge shirt; then it will be $25 for one or all of the challenges. You will not be charged until we have confirmed enough participants to order shirts.

  • IF DO NOT WANT THE SHIRT BUT WISH TO PARTICIPATE DO NOT REGISTER THROUGH THIS SITE.  AN ADDITIONAL SITE WILL BE AVAILABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS FOR FREE. WATCH YOUR WEEKLY EMAILS.

  • You encouraged to wear your FAST gear (T-shirt per/post swim; FAST tri/bike gear)
  • FAST will have the right to cancel, limit the number of participants, utilize wave starts, or move an event due to unforeseen issues or lack of participation
  • The participant gets a special FASTer shirt.  It would be the same material as our red shirts.  It would have the same front and rear logos.  The color would be unique and only available for doing any one of these challenges.  
  • No timing is taken but if the member wants to time themselves, they are welcome to do it themselves.  
  • Anything with an open water a personal swim buoy must be used for sighting by volunteers or other swimmers
  • Any of the triathlons could be turned into an Aquabike (no run) if the participant wishes to only swim and bike.
  • For cycling all USAT basic rules apply except drafting since we are not taking times.  This means helmets required, no earphones, follow all traffic rules.  Lights are encouraged on the front and the rear of the bike.  Cell phones and rear-view mirrors are permitted.  Riders are expected to carry all of their liquids, nutrition, and bike repair items in the event of a flat.  Longer events might have one special needs location
  • Running portions will be self-policing; Personal hydration bottles are encouraged
  • Participants will need to follow the prescribed course to be considered a finisher
  • Participants are expected to know the course before.  Minimal markings will be available for biking and running.  The swims will have swim fluggels/buoys as markers for the turns.
  • The events are on the honor system
  • Wetsuits will follow USAT rules.

July 17 - Open Water Swim - 3 loops around Spring Mill Pond

Aug 8 - Triathlon/Aquabike - You pick the distance either sprint or Olympic (sprint 1 loop swim spring mill pond, one loop of the park for the bike, run 3 miles; Olympic double the sprint distances)

Aug 21 - 100 KM on Hines or 100 Miles using the FAST white bike route (referenced in our website;  Start in Northville 7 mile to Whitmore Lake, to Pinckney, to Gregory, to Chelsea, to Dexter, to Plymouth back to Northville)
