EVENT INFORMATION

The best 10K race in the Midwest, this event is tailored to be enjoyed by all who participate as runners, walkers, and volunteers. Being a community-oriented event, a portion of the race budget is dedicated every year to benefit local not-for-profit organizations, and proceeds are used to promote physical fitness and activity in the Metro East.

Run in conjunction with the City of Edwardsville IL's Route 66 Festival, this year race day will be capped at 200 in person participants, but the race will also be offered as a virtual event. This race attracts individuals from the St. Louis metro and beyond each year, and we encourage you to invite your long distance family and friends to join in the virtual fun for 2021.

Age group awards (in 10 year bins) will be awarded to in person participants this year, and all registrants will receive a high quality technical shirt and swag item – to be distributed at an event after the race (items will be mailed to those unable to attend in person).

Covid-19 - FACE MASK POLICY

All participants are required to wear a face mask prior to the start of the race, through the start and finish lines, and at the conclusion of the race. Additionally, participants MUST carry a face mask on their person at all times during the race. This is a stipulation of the Metro Milers agreement with the city of Edwardsville, and is non-negotiable.

SPECTATORS, GATHERING BEFORE AND AFTER EVENT
As a condition of our approval for the race with the city, we are under obligation to have as few people on site as possible. As a result, spectating is disallowed this year, and we are asking participants to not gather before or after the race. Instead, we ask that you time your arrival to the park grounds appropriate to your start time, and not linger after finishing.

WAVE START

To ensure runner safety at the start of the race and to reduce the amount of passing during the first few miles of the race, participants have been placed into waves based on their average pace per mile as entered during online registration. Each wave will consist of 20 runners, and will begin the race in three minute intervals. Participants must start in their assigned waves. Wave assignments will be sent to participants in their race instructions email. If you desire to run with a spouse or friend, please indicate the same average pace as one another.

HOW DOES A WAVE START WORK?

There will be three corrals race morning: one start corral and two staging. Each wave will move up one corral until their wave start. Each runner will stand next to a marker (spaced 6 ft apart). Being chip timed, your individual time begins when you cross the start line mats. Runners are required to keep their face mask on until their wave starts and through the start line.

BIB TRANSFERS

Allowing a non-registered runner to use your bib is NOT PERMITTED. There are two reasons for this rule.

1. We are implementing specific safety measures due to Covid-19. All registered participants will sign a waiver agreeing to the race rules during the registration process. Additionally, runners will receive detailed information from us days leading up to the event with updated safety requirements. Non-registered runners will not have signed the waiver and will not have received communication from us.

2. Our race insurance covers registered runners only. It does not cover someone who is running under someone else's name/bib number.
