Since 1995, the Vandalia Freedom Tour has provided a fun, healthy and family-oriented day of cycling for people of all ages.  Sponsored by the Vandalia-Butler Optimist Club our annual event helps generate needed revenue to support youth programs in the Vandalia-Butler community.

 

PRE-REGISTRATION INFORMATION

As always, pre-registered cyclists are guaranteed to receive ALL the “good stuff”:

* Pick your route (20K, 50K or 100K)  NOTE:  20K route has a scheduled start of 9am
* Delicious catered lunch (included for 50K and 100K only - optional for 20K for $5.00)
* Fantastic shirt
* Deluxe water bottle
* Very cool wrist band
* Prizes
* Other surprises (you never know)??

Once you pre-register, detailed information will be emailed to you as part of your confirmation communication (to the e-mail address given within the registration process).

EVENT DAY REGISTRATION INFORMATION

For those who prefer showing up on event day...this option will include the following:

So not to be a nag...but "come early" and increase your chances of getting ALL the good stuff for one low price. Or better yet, just simply PRE-REGISTER on our easy to use, super cool website and guarantee yourself ALL the "good stuff"!

ROUTES 

There are three scenic routes to appeal to all cyclists - 20K(12.5 miles), 50K(31 miles) & 100K(62 miles).  All routes begin and end at the Vandalia Sports Complex.

 

• The 20K Route:  follows the same route as the 50K/100K until the 1st rest stop (about 8 miles).  Leaving the Englewood Reserve the 20K route heads south (while the other two routes head north) and takes the riders on a scenic journey back to the Vandalia Sports Complex (main check-in).  Since this group is most likely more novice riders, the 20K participants will have a mass start scheduled for 9:00am with a goal for all 20K riders to be done by 11:00am.

• The 50K Route:  routes wind through Butler Township/ Montgomery County and head north into Miami County.The route winds just south of Tipp City and joins up again with the 100K tour as you make your way back to Vandalia (main check-in).  This route has two (2) rest stops with plenty of food, fun, refreshments and smiles.  Our hope is you will start this route no later than 10:00am to enure proper support from our volunteers.

• The 100K Route:  routes wind through Butler Township/ Montgomery County and head north into Miami County.The 100K circles above Troy and makes its way through the outskirts of Casstown and Tipp City.  This route has five (5) rest stops with plenty of food, fun, refreshments and smiles.  Our hope is you will start this route no later than 8:30am to ensure proper support from our volunteers.

 

All routes are extremely well marked and detailed maps are available. For your safety, the entire route will be monitored by the Vandalia Freedom Tour volunteers until 2:30pm. The 20K Route will have police support at all major intersections.  Maps and important information will be emailed to all pre-registered cyclists and will also be available on our Facebook Page (http://fb.me/vandaliafreedomtour ) - so stay tuned.

START & FINISH INFORMATION 

For pre-registered cyclists, check in begins as early as 6:00am (at the Vandalia Sports Complex - Main Concessions Area) with the first cyclists leaving by 7:00am. Cyclists are encouraged to finish their selected course by 2pm - so obviously departure times can vary depending on course selected (50K or 100K) and anticipated pace of riding.

20K Route - Scheduled start time/mass start at 9:00am with all 20K participants encouraged to finish by 11:00am

50K Route - Participants are encouraged to start no later than 10:00am

100K Route - Participants are encouraged to start no later than 8:30am

REFUND POLICY

The Vandalia Freedom Tour is held...rain or shine.  Our event and all the items involved with it are ordered early as we get ready for the event.  We do not offer refunds.  If you are unsure whether you will be able to make the event - we can always make arrangements to hold your shirt & water bottle so that you can pick them up at a later date.  We understand "life happens" and hope you equally understand that this is a charity event managed soley by volunteers.  If you have questions and/or concerns please feel free to reachout to the event coordinator:
