EVENT INFORMATION

Since 1996, The Vandalia Freedom Tour has provided a fun, healthy and family-oriented day of cycling for people of all ages.

Sponsored by the Vandalia-Butler Optimist Club our annual event provides financial support for youth programs specific to the Vandalia City and Butler Township community.

ROUTES

There are three scenic routes to appeal to all cyclists - 20K(12.5 miles), 50K(31 miles) & 100K(62 miles).  All routes begin and end at the Vandalia Sports Complex.

  • The 20K Route:  follows the same route as the 50K/100K until the 1st rest stop (about 8 miles).  As all riders exit the Englewood Reserve on Frederick Pike the 20K route heads south while the other two longer routes head north.  The 20K route then takes the riders on a scenic journey back to the Vandalia Sports Complex (main check-in).  Since the 20K riders are typically more novice riders, the 20K participants are requested to start at 9:00am with a goal for all 20K riders to be done by 11:00am.

  • The 50K Route:  this route winds through Butler Township/ Montgomery County and heads north into Miami County. The 50K route travels just south of Tipp City and joins up again with the 100K route as riders make their way back to Vandalia (main check-in).  This route has two (2) rest stops with plenty of food, fun, refreshments and smiles.  Our hope is you will start this route no later than 10:00am to insure proper support from our volunteers.

  • The 100K Route:  this route winds through Butler Township/ Montgomery County and head north into Miami County. The 100K route travels just north of Troy and makes its way through the outskirts of Casstown and Tipp City.  This route has five (4) rest stops with plenty of food, fun, refreshments and smiles.  Our hope is you will start this route no later than 8:30am to insure proper support from our volunteers.

All routes are extremely well marked and detailed maps are available. For your safety, the entire route will be monitored by the Vandalia Freedom Tour volunteers until 2:30pm. The 20K Route will have police support at all major intersections.  Additional police support will also be provided for the 50K/100K routes as they make their way into the City of Vandalia.  Maps and important information will be emailed to all pre-registered cyclists and will also be available on our Facebook Page (http://fb.me/vandaliafreedomtour ) - so stay tuned.

The Vandalia Freedom Tour is held...rain or shine.  Our event and all the items involved with it are ordered early as we get ready for the event.  We do not offer refunds.  If you are unsure whether you will be able to make the event - we can always make arrangements to hold your shirt & water bottle so that you can pick them up at a later date.  Please do not ask us to mail your shirt and/or water bottle unless you are willing to pay for shipping costs.  We understand "life happens" and hope you equally understand that this is a charity event managed completely by volunteers.  If you have questions and/or concerns please feel free to reach out to the event coordinator:
