About This Event

We are race #2 of the 18^th annual Kiwanis Kids Triathlon Series, a series for boys & girls born in the years 2002-2007 (7-12 years old). 

The course features comfortable distances and spectator-friendly surroundings.  We also will utilize chip timing.  Visit our website at www.greaterhoustonkiwanis.org for maps to race sites and other race dates/locations in the Series, which begins June 2014 and continues through September 2014.

Distances

Boys/Girls born in 2007, 2006, 2005, (7-9 years old) swim 50M, bike 1 mile, run ¼ mile.  Boys/Girls born in 2004, 2003, 2002 (10-12 years old) swim 100M, bike 2 miles, run ½ mile.

Age Groupings by Birth Year

Athletes are placed in an age group by their birth year, not by their age on race day.  Each age group races separately.  Boys and Girls compete separately in their age group.  NOTE: It is up to the discretion of the Race Director to allow an athlete born after 2006 to compete.

Awards

Every athlete will receive a finisher’s medal, t-shirt and other items.  Trophies will be given to the top three boys and top three girls in each age group.  Presentation of ALL trophies will be at the end of the event.

Pre-Race Check In

Race numbers, chip timing device, instructions, and course maps will be available one hour before start time.  Please arrive no later than 1 hour before the race starts to check in, review the course, and ready your transition area.

Entry Fee

Pre-registration: $25.  Race Day registration: $30.  All participants must be members of USA Triathlon.  After completing your registration, you may purchase an annual USA Triathlon youth membership for just $15 at usatriathlon.org.  

Participant Must Join USA Triathlon

The races in this series are sanctioned by USA Triathlon. You will automatically be directed to the USA Triathlon website to purchase an annual USA Triathlon youth membership for $15 when you register online.  If you choose to register for the race on race day, please purchase USAT membership in advance by visiting usatriathlon.org. 

Race Rules

No outside assistance during the race.  Helmets must be worn for the bike course.  Shoes must be worn for both the bike and run courses.  Complete the correct course.  Wear race number during the run.  No headphones or radios during the race.  Bike must fit triathlete – must be able to straddle top tube with both feet flat on the ground.  Decision of judges is final.
