Coach Corner

Thank you for placing your trust in the coaching at USA Marathon Training.  That means a lot to us, and me especially.

Our club was founded on the idea, if everyone in the world came together for a run, the world would be a more peaceful place.

Though having fun is our cornerstone, science is our building block. About 70% of our fun group has a P.R. (Personal Record) with every official race we train for. And that is not something we motivate at all. It simply happens, with proper training techniques.  Utilizing training for the aerobic engine builds endurance.  Lower intensity is most of the work you will do, between 80% and 95%, depending on the group you are in.  Threshold work will raise the bar, but this is a smaller percentage.  Remember, ultimately, we are training for a full or half marathon.  This takes endurance.

Our only rule is:

Rule #1: You need to have fun.  Rule #2: If you are not living up to Rule #1, and not having fun, you need to fix something.

Our motto is: Train Smart, Run Strong, Dream Big!  We hope you do all three and, have fun!
