Our social this month is at the Roy H. Cullen Timing Track at Memorial Park Track on Wednesday Oct. 9th. Coach Jeff will give us some running tips and then lead a track workout. Coach Jeff is the Head Coach of Rampage Racing and Endurance and a Boston and Ironman 70.3 World Qualifier. Click Here to watch Coach Jeff's Interval Talk. Don't want to run. Just come for the running tips and socialize with us. Friends are always welcome. We are hosting a group bike ride on Sat Oct. 26th. We are rolling at 7:30 am so come early to be ready to ride by 7:30am. All levels of riders are encouraged. After the ride around 10:30, Garner from Gear Monkey will give a tire changing clinic and answer any bike related questions. Click Here to see the route. In November we'll join the Zoot team for a friendly splash and dash at Twin Lakes. HRTC will provide lunch and cover the entrance fee for members. Friends are always welcomed but they will have to pay the entrance fee. Also in November, is the election. If you are interested in helping plan events for next year, we would love for you to join the 2025 HRTC Board. Let any current board member know or send an email to president@houstonracing.com. The participation credit spreadsheet is attached. Please verify that we are not missing an event for you. Each event gives you a ticket to the Participation Prize worth up to $700. The Christmas Party is coming soon! Happy Racing, Heidi Riggs - President Coach John's Tip for the month Looking to improve your run prior to the next triathlon season by taking on a running race? Consider focusing on half the distance of next year’s A race triathlon run. Taking on IRONMAN Texas? Focus on a half marathon this winter. Taking on IRONMAN 70.3 Texas? Focus on a 10k. Limiting yourself to half of the distance will allow you to begin to build the stamina necessary to complete the distance, but also still allow you to focus on making gains in your speed and strength throughout the winter months. It is quite laborious to maintain high levels of stamina year-round and the weekly mileage takes a big toll on the body, but gains in speed stick around much longer and adding the stamina necessary to successfully complete your triathlon is relatively easy as you resume triathlon training.
