Join in on CARA's Power of the Group as you prepare for spring half-marathons. CARA's 12-week group training program offers you the support, community, and resources you need to successfully reach 13.1.

  • 12-Week Training Plan: CARA Director of Training Coach Tim Bradley provides a 12-week training plan with our traditional novice, intermediate and advanced options so you can train at the level right for your fitness and lifestyle. You will have confidence knowing your training program is led by coaches who have national certifications and years of proven coaching success.

  • Group Training: Group long runs and speed training. Gain support, security, and camaraderie with the support of a group!

  • Pacer Led Runs: CARA member pace group leaders are experienced runners, committed to guiding you every step of the way. Weekend long runs will be led by friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced CARA group leaders - we offer pacers at each 30-second pace interval, from 7:30 to 12:00 min/mile, plus run/walk paces. 

  • NovaCare Rehabilitation Injury Hotline: Gain access to CARA's 24/7 Injury Hotline with Novacare Rehabilitation's Clinicians ready to support your injury questions.

  • Expertise: An info-packed newsletter from CARA Director of Training Coach Tim Bradley.

  • Hydration Support: Stations serving Gatorade Endurance and water at your group runs.

  • Training Guide: Receive CARA's info-packed hard copy training guide.

  • SWAG: CARA runners receive a unique winter running hat.

New CARA Members - $160
Current CARA Members - $136 (Save 15%!)

Rate Details:

  • New member rate of $160 includes training program and 2019 CARA membership good through 12/31/19.

  • CARA member rate of $136 requires an active 2019 CARA membership.

Credit Card Fees:

  • Credit card registration fee payments are subject to a service fee by our registration provider. To avoid online credit card fees, send the check for the amount owed to CARA, 549 W. Randolph St, Suite 704, Chicago, IL 60661. Provide full name, e-mail and note that check is for summer marathon training program fees. CARA will then contact to complete registration.

Terms / Details:

  • Program registration does not include entrance fee to Morton Arboretum in Lisle. CARA is subsidizing the cost of Morton Arboretum "Morton 1" annual passes for training program runners at a 50% off the standard rate. Passes must be purchased during registration.

  • Program registration does not include entry or registration fees for half marathon race.

  • Fees are not prorated for late entry.

  • *Includes 2019 CARA membership good through 12/31/19.

  • Member discount rate requires an active 2019 CARA membership.

  • Refunds: No refunds will be issued for any reason.

  • Credits / Deferrals: Participants may withdraw from the program prior to picking up training program packet and prior to the first day of training (Monday, week of first group session) for any reasons and receive a credit to any CARA program or event of equal or lesser value. Credit expires at the end of the next calendar year. Complete terms and conditions will be provided upon request.

  • ^No training run on April 13, 2019 due to CARA's Wintrust Lakefront 10 Miler & 5K.

Chicago Spring Half-Marathon - May 19, 2019

The Byline Bank Chicago Spring Half Marathon & 10K kicks off distance running season in the Chicago running community. Celebrating the city’s emergence from winter hibernation, the Chicago Spring Half Marathon & 10K delivers an intimate urban setting in Maggie Daley Park and features a beautiful lakefront course, charming finish line complete with a Spring Market Finish Festival serving a hot gourmet breakfast buffet, local vendors, build-your-own flower station, live music and beer garden.
