100 Mile Club & Run the Year Challenge

IT'S MAY!!! For those in the know, you know that means that you should be getting in your "100 Mile Club" miles. For those of you who are new, the "100 Mile Club" is a challenge to reach 100, 500, 1000 or 2000 miles between January 1st and December 31st. It is open to ALL Striders (not just those participating in the Gold Cup Series). All you need to do is keep track of your mileage throughout the month, and send it to calstriderscoring@gmail.com at the conclusion of each month. We also have the "Run the Year Challenge" where you, and up to 4 teammates, are challenged to run 2022 miles in 2022. For those participating as a team, the miles must be equally distributed amongst teammates. To sign up, just email calstriderscoring@gmail.com with the names of those on your team, as well as a fun team name we can call out at the Gold Cup Banquet as your claim your glorious prize... ;)

Our current "100 Mile Club" leaders (as of end of March):

  1. Rick Fenno (986.00)
  2. Aaron Cook (677.00)
  3. Stephanie Burkholder (544.00)
  4. Steve Kearney (535.51)
  5. Linda Murkve (528.10)

Questions from the Week

  1. I am a Gold Cup member, but I haven't been scored... What do I do?
First, please check that you have purchased the Gold Cup upgrade. You can confirm this HERE. However, if you have purchased the upgrade, but still have issues, please contact the Statistician who will investigate. (She is human and can make mistakes).

  2. Why am I being scored in the (...) age group? Shouldn't I be in the (...) age group?
You age group for the entire Gold Cup season is based on your age on July 1, 2022.

  3. I see one of the award categories is "age graded". What is that?
You can read about age grading at https://usatfmasters.org/age-grading/ . If you have any other questions, please feel free to talk to our Statistician (Emily-Rose) at any Gold Cup race this season.

  4. What discounts am I eligible for?
This depends on if you are a basic member, or if you have purchased the Gold Cup upgrade. Gold Cup members receive discounts on every race on our Gold Cup schedule. If you haven't purchased this upgrade, you can still receive discounts on purchases at Running Warehouse (Code: CALREGSNID). Sponsored races are NOT required to give discounts to our members, however, if available, all members are eligible for this discount.
