Ed Thompson and his wife Trudy Regnier are committed to long distance running and we do mean long. Here's Ed's report on the recent Hog's Hunt 25/50K in Huntsville State Park.

What a nice day yesterday at Huntsville State Park. The 7th time for Trudy and me to run run 25k there.

It takes a week for the official times to post. Trudy thinks she will be 2:37 plus seconds. Her PB at HSP was 2:37:38 on April 1, 2006. So she just might have a new PB, it will be close. Her last run fime at the park was a 2:49:57 last year on November 8, 2008. She took a fall this time but into sand so just has a cut lip.

My time will be just over 3:57 I think. My last race there was a 4:03 and before a 4:14. I have not been under 4 since fall of 05 when I went 3:29 and then spring 06 when I went 3:33. Both before I was hurt.

Yesterday was warm, they moved the race a month back this year. I felt much stronger than I have before and pushed a lot harder at the start. The course is so bad the second half, that its hard for me to push much then, no negative splits for me.

From my last Hogs Hunt, I cut my time by 17 minutes and had the heat to deal with. So I am encouraged, I am making progress at getting back.

I had not fallen before, and had two falls yesterday. But was not hurt too bad and got right back up. The runners were strung out enough that no one saw me fall. I was wondering, if a runner falls in the woods and no one sees it, did he really fall?
