Houston Masters Sports Association

HMSA is an established running club that welcomes and encourages runners of all ages and abilities. Spanning the spectrum, our membership roster includes average as well as elite runners, but we all share an energetic enthusiasm for the sport and choose to be active and involved in the Houston-area running scene.

Houston Masters: In the Beginning

In the summer of 1974 a 40-year-old master runner traveled from Houston to Eugene, Oregon to participate in the first U.S. Masters Track & Field Championships. His enthusiasm for Masters' running prompted him to form the Houston Masters Sports Association. Originally a small group of runners dedicated to promoting an active lifestyle for 40+ athletes, the club eventually grew to include athletes of all ages. And, just as with the original Masters group, today's club members are dynamic, active and innovative in the running community.

Entry-Fee Reimbursement: HMSA members are reimbursed for entry fees paid for the HARRA Fall and Spring series of runs, including the Marathon Warm-Up Series and the Houston Marathon. You?ll find more information in the Reimbursement Policy.

Race Management

You can help HMSA manage and sponsor our annual 25K, second leg of the Marathon Warm-Up Series. Gain experience in all areas of race production. This event serves as the club's main fundraiser.
