The Tornados Running Club has a 28-year history of running excellence and is a member club of the Houston Area Road Runner’s Association (HARRA). The club was the first predominantly Latino running club, and has grown into a culturally diverse group of runners.

The Cinco de Mayo 5K & Kid’s K is one of two races the club hosts annually. It is our “Give Back to the Community” race. Since its inception in 2005 we have given 11 scholarships totaling $38,300. In addition, we have given $11,950 to various community organizations.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

Due to the flooding of Bear Creek Park, the Cinco de Mayo 5k has been moved to Mason Park.  Our planning committee has worked diligently to move the race to this new location.  Our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.  We want to thank you for your continued support with our efforts to give back to the community by providing an educational scholarship to an exemplary student.
