Charles Sayles Challenge

CHARLES SAYLES CHALLENGE

This Challenge is dedicated to our own Sir Charles Sayles who left us on 1/21/21.  Sir Charles defied all
conventions by starting his running ‘career’ late in his life and ultimately running Marathons in all 50
states.  Our running community has lost a legend but his legacy will stay in our hearts and minds.

This Challenge is put together by our Coach David and lasts from February 1^st through April 1^st.  You have
the choice of running 8 – 10 different trails within Griffith Park.  You must complete 7 of these trails.
Once you’ve completed the trails and uploaded…you will receive a gift from USAMT. The Challenge cost
is $10 and you will sign up through our website.
 

Here are the steps

1. Download the Komoot App  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.komoot.android&hl=en_US&gl=US
2. Sign up (it’s free) and then friend USAMarathonTraining; Coach David will friend you back!
3. Upload a tour to your cell phone, so it will tell you where to go.  You can view the maps
   online first.  Some watches with mapping, will allow uploading to the watch, as well.
4. Download Strava app https://www.strava.com/mobile
5. Sign up (it’s free) and then join USA Marathon Training Group.
6. Make sure your runs/hikes/walks are connected to Strava through your device (Garmin, Fitbit,
   Suunto, etc).

Coach David will follow the Challengers on Strava and will see all the participants.  So your Komoot App
will give you the routes and Strava will record the routes.  The last upload to Strava should be completed
no later than April 2^nd.

If you choose to finish both Charles Sayles Challenge and Bunny Hop, there will be an added bonus gift.
